From your image, it looks like the hook is still folded. You will have to select the hook and press X to unfold the hook, then you should be able to connect to the lifting tool
Is there clarification on how to use the ballast spreadsheet? I'm having issues with the crane launching into the air and would like to get the weight right to see if that is the issue.

W boom hook does not work and the height cannot be adjusted.
it does, it just uses a different control. Assign Winch 2 to a control and try it.

It is as good as I can get it currently. Balance the booms front and rear, lower the ballast tray if you have one one. Those are all things that help.

It is an IC node on the hook or it is the fold button. Do not remember which.

if i attach the derrick boom manual the base will attach but the rest of the boom as it is attached i can still lift it as it is not attached.
Yes, that is because you cannot use the buildable lattice to do actual lifts. So I had to make it so that it would not fully work.
